Noel dans Beaumont Le Roger

Christmas in Beaumont Le Roger was very nice indeed, especially since Philippe and Anna are were with us!

No snow here and the temperature was warm, if you compared it to Canada! La maison etait occupee de l'activite dans la preparation pour les celebrations de Veille de Noel
(the house was busy with activity in preparation of Christmas Eve celebrations!) The french celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve, when you go to church Santa has arrived by the time you come back, presents are opened and then you sit down to a meal.

Alice preparing Wild Boars leg with a 60.00 dollar bottle of red wine! Seems to be a waste of a good bottle of wine to me as l would rather of dranked it! :)

Some last minute shopping was done on Christmas Eve and no it wasn't me doing the shopping! :) Gifts were wrapped and waiting for Santa to arrive. Philippe's sister, brother in-law and niece arrived and those who were attending Christmas Eve service headed out. Philippe, Anna, Alice and myself went to the service, my first time going to a Catholic service. The church is very old, dates back to 1100's.

Christmas Eve service in Beaumont Le Roger
The service was llllloonnngggg so long in fact that we didn't stay until very end. You see, Alice bought a turkey (which they don't generally eat at Christmas) nor sure if she bought it because it's something that l am use to having at Christmas or what but anyways.... I was put in charge  of cooking the turkey as Alice has never cooked a turkey before and l sure in heck didn't want the bird to dry out because the service went too long so we left... Yes some of you might think that was bad of us but seriously, the service was already 1.5 hrs long  and wasn't close to being finished! :) I will remember that for the next time when attending a Catholic service at Christmas time, count at least 2 hrs for the service!

Before Santa arrived!

Home we go and of course the very first thing before even taking my coat off, check the bird and thank god it was not over cooked! :) As l am fussing over the bird, everyone was excited because SANTA had arrived!
Table is set and everyone is ready to open gifts.

Santa was good to everyone and he even had a little helper, Anna!

Apparently the family thinks l am not eating enough so they bought me a 2.2 lbs of chocolate! Still not opened to this day!

They were excited about the bottle of Ice Wine from Quebec!

Philippe opening his gift from Anna, she was so excited to give it to her papa, Slippers!

Jean enjoying the electronic picture frame that we gave them, pictures are ready loaded and ready to go!
Gift opening done and now to dinner!

Alice prepared, smoked salmon and smoked halibut.

Main course was, turkey, pommes de terre avec le céleri (potatoes with celery)

Nice bottle of champagne went along with dessert, all kinds of cookies and treats that Alice and Francois had baked, yummy!

I have to say that l thoroughly enjoyed my first Christmas in France, the foods, the wines and of course the champagne was totally delightful and to think that this is the only the beginning of weeks of preparation for this holiday!

Next day.....Christmas day and we are eating again... Honestly that is all l think we do here is eat! :)

                                                       Lobster to start! Yummy

                                                         The Wild Boar!

                                                 Francoise, Serge and Lore

                                                          Alice and Jean

                                                              Snails.......

Alice was having too much fun and forgot the strainer in the pot on the stove, slightly melted! :)

I think we had three different wines with dinner, the scotch and the cognac came out along with more champagne!

Anna enjoying playing with her new toys...

Even Tipue, wanted in on the festivities!

Now that l am writing this a couple weeks after Christmas l have forgotten some of the details! Oh well, just know that we had a great Christmas, l have tasted once again foods and wines that l have never had before. Some l won`t care to do again but at least l tried!
