Strasbourg Portion of the Trip

A little pub that we went to for dinner on our first
night in Strasbourg

Enjoying our dessert!

They make their own beer at this pub!

Notre-Dame Cathedral

Another beautiful Church that Europe
has to offer

The Organ

 Astronomical clock, dates from 1843
Its main features, besides the automata,
are a perpetual calendar (including a computus),
 an orrery (planetary dial),
a display of the real position of
the Sun and the Moon, and solar and lunar eclipses.

the "Pillar of Angels" (Pilier des anges)
a representation of the Last Judgment

Construction of the Cathedral (1176-1439)

Beautiful Stain glass windows

The main entrance to the Catherdal

 Kammerzel Restaurant,
 dates back to 1345

Cathedral in the background.

The cathedral is visible far across
the plains of Alsace and can be
seen from as far off as the
Vosges Mountains or the Black Forest
on the other side of the Rhine.

Streets of Strasbourg

Out for the evening with the "Friends of Sweden",
"Spano" Philippe's colleague trying out " Bone Marrow"
not kidding! The bone is cut into half, then cooked, the
marrow becomes jelly like and you eat it! YUCK!
Did l try it???? HELL no!! :)

A traditional Alsatian dish, "Choucroute"
sausage et porc served with pomme de terre
et sauerkraut

Palace of Justice  Place De La Republique

A War Memorial of the First World War

To honor the dead, a mother (symbolizing the city of Strasbourg) holding on her lap her two children dying. One is German and one French, with no more uniforms to distinguish them. They fought
to the death and finally they get closer, they hold hands.

Fleuve Rhine

Doesn't matter where you travel, you can
see the Notre-Dame as seen in the background

Swans are every where here!

One of many outdoor markets you will find

Wonderful old buildings, this one was built
in the 1300's!

View into the courtyard

Love this entrance!

Antique market l came across while sightseeing. Managed
to buy a couple of tins for my collection!

Love the detail on this building

So here it is folks, a real STORK!
So that is what they look like~

And there is plenty more too!

Loved this guy, never seen a duck that looked like this
one before...

He is a beautiful bird, almost doesn't look real but he is....

Restaurant, built in 1607

L’Orangerie, Pavilion Josephine

An interesting looking fountain

Taking a trip to Germany! Sounds so far away but
in reality it was only about 40 mins drive!

And we thought Woolworth die a long time ago,
not in Germany!

Street view in Kehl, Germany

Lovely statue in centre square

Our Strasbourg portion of the trip is
now officially over with so time to
head to Reims, France to take a tour
of the Pommery Champagne House!

Church located in centre square.

It was time to stop to get a bit to eat and this is where
we stopped...

View from the restaurant!

This restaurant connects both sides of the
highway as it is built right above the highway!
They save a lot of money by not having to build on
both sides of the highway, this building takes care
of the traffic from both directions! Smart idea
and they have been around for many, many
years!
