Bonjour mon Aimes!
I have had a chance to walk around the village for which l am currently living in, will start by it's name... Beaumont Le Roger, France. Population of approx. 3000 people, surrounded by plenty of farm land. Actually when you fly into France, you will notice that it just seems to be farm land and very little cities.Villages are small but there seems to be plenty of them but do not appear to be within walking distance of each other.
Each village has three things, a butcher,a bakery and a church. If you are lucky to be located in a bigger village then you will have other stores as well but mostly you will find those three as they are most important to the daily life of the locals. Yesterday there was a fresh market being held in the middle of the village, you would find, fresh vegetables, fresh meat, fish, seafood, flowers of all sorts including plants you wont' normally see this time of year . l guess l am not in Canada so there will be lots of things that l will be seeing that won't necessarily be normal or even have back home! Also available at the market was artisan items such as clothing, jewelry etc. Will go back next time to really look at the stuff, was more interested in getting to know my surroundings on this trip.
The locals are friendly, l had a chance to parler francais will l was walking around taking pictures. One gentleman in the market asked me if l was a journalist! :) I should of told him that l was, from Canada! :) Wonder if l would of gotten a freebie if l had, might have to try that next time!:)
The settings is very charming, very English style is the only way to explain it, the front gates to every home, shutters on all the windows, most of them are closed, apparently it helps to keep the cold out even though they have the same type of windows we have at home. The homes would be very dark, l would have to invest in a candle company if l lived here permanently! The streets are very narrow, most cases you have to pull right over to allow another vehicle to pass you. I noticed it was very quite while l was walking, not many people walking the streets and the ones you do see are generally retired. Wonder if there is a night life here, will have to investigate that one, next weekend l will!
I have taken plenty of pics but unable to upload them from my bigger camera as l have forgotten my camera cord to hook up to the laptop and the reader l have on my laptop doesn't take a flash card. Will work on that problem and helpfully get some pics posted shortly. In the mean time l will use my smaller camera.
Well l guess l have to go for now, l am being summed for a "drink", Philippe's sister, brother in-law are here so l guess it's time to socialize with the famille!
Bonsoir!
Bonsoir ma petite canadienne,

Philippe
