A typical Sunday in France

Life is sure different here, a much slower pace then back home and l thought that we were slow!:) Maybe the word is best suited would be "relaxed" and again l thought that we were too. Stores are not open on Sundays, in our walk we only saw one, a bakery.
Sunday is spent with family, we were joined by Philippe's sister, brother in-law and niece for a very enjoyable meal. The main meal of the day is at lunch time. Food is very much appreciated here, the preparation, the presentation and the fact people actually take the time to enjoy the food for which they are eating. No pre-made foods here, all made fresh. I have to say that l am going to be very spoiled when it comes to wonderful dishes that l will be tasting during my stay as Philippe's mom is a fantastic cook, guess it runs in the family, lucky me! The main meal usually consists of, soup or salad, main dish, followed by cheese and baguette and then dessert. I actually had two things today that l either haven't liked in the past or nor never tried before, smoked salmon, never really cared for the taste but l gave it a try again and it didn't taste too fishy this time, maybe it was the lemon that helped it. First time l have ever had wild boar, yes l said wild boar or they would call it wild pig here! Meat is very dark in colour, like beef, same texture as well. It was marinated in a full bottle of  red wine since yesterday, it was very good.
Wines here are fantastic and the best part is........... they are soooooooooooo cheap! I wish it was like that at home! Wines arrange between 3.00-10.00 eu (4.20- 14.00) a bottle, good champagne you can get for approx. 15.00eu (21.00 Canadian) to buy that same bottle in Canada you would pay approx 45.00-50.00. I am planning on visiting some vineards in the surrounding regions and I look forward to trying many wines / champagnes during my stay!

Rest of the afternoon, was spent quietly, Alice and l took a walk throughout the village so l could take more pics with the smaller camera so l could post some for you! Not sure what is in store for tomorrow but what ever it is, l am sure it will be a learning experience for me!

I am ready for bed again! :)
